A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO MR WEE SIN THO
Founding Chairman of the Mind Science Centre
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Wee Sin Tho, our founding Chairman of the Mind Science Centre.
Mr Wee, together with a few passionate key opinion leaders, was instrumental in the establishment and development of the Mind Science Centre. He played a pivotal role in the development of the Centre in its early years and continued to serve in the Advisory Board after his chairman term.
Mr Wee’s active leadership in the Dementia Prevention Programme (now named Age Well Everyday) enabled scientific elderly research to be translated into a community programme, held at community centres and social service agents around Singapore, benefitting more than 1,000 seniors.
He was actively involved in sharing his inspiration on the Mind-Art interface through the Mind Art Experiential Lab project @ Alexandra Hospital in recent years. His strong advocacy in structured mindfulness training and practices in elderly and children promoted the start-up program, Mind Gym @ Alex, supporting the Alexandra and NUHS Campus nursing and medical staff.
We hope the current and future work of the Mind Science Centre brings honour to his memory. He has given us his inspiration, and we hope to amplify his spark to illuminate the path for other members of the community.
His memory, contributions and legacy will live on.
We will be forever grateful for his contributions. Our deepest condolences to Mrs Wee Geok Hua and family.
